Niketa Kou

Dance

I graduated from Pomona College in May 2025 with a B.A. in Dance and Neuroscience. For me, dance is a powerful way to express and connect, where breath, trust, and movement come together to tell meaningful stories. My artistic journey has been shaped and inspired by a vibrant community of mentors, peers, and collaborators across the 5Cs and beyond, whose support continues to fuel my growth as an artist.

Dance Film: within

Director: Esther K. Liew | Choreographers/Dancers: Niketa Kou & Elly Rokeach

“within” explores the experience of physical pain while navigating relationships—its accompanying frustration, grief, and the path to acceptance. Pain can consume a person, isolating them and making it difficult to accept help. However, through time, patience, love, and presence, one can begin to heal. This piece is inspired by our personal experiences with chronic pain and injury throughout our lives. Since some form of pain is a universal human inevitability, we wish to reach our audience through this shared experience.

take a deep breath... and JUMP!

My senior dance thesis “take a deep breath” explores the tension between constant motion and the need to slow down, using partnering and floorwork to express themes of stress, connection, and presence. Through movement, I investigate how we navigate overwhelming demands while finding moments of grounding and community.
